About HCG

Mechanism of Action: HCG is a glycoprotein hormone that mimics luteinizing hormone (LH), stimulating Leydig cells in the testes to produce testosterone and supporting spermatogenesis.

Indications & Off-Label Uses: FDA-approved for treating hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, infertility, and certain pediatric conditions. Off-label uses include maintaining testosterone production during exogenous testosterone therapy, improving fertility, and “anti-aging” or body composition optimization.

FDA Status: Approved for specific hormonal and fertility indications; other uses are off-label.

Clinical Evidence: Studies support HCG for preserving testicular volume and sperm production during testosterone therapy and treating male hypogonadism. Evidence for anti-aging, performance enhancement, or general wellness is limited.

Safety & Monitoring: Generally well tolerated; possible side effects include injection-site reactions, headache, mood changes, gynecomastia, and rare thromboembolic events. Monitoring of testosterone, hematocrit, and reproductive function is recommended.
